For Ajax families
Ajax sits at the western edge of Durham and has grown fast for two decades. Families here often look at schools in Toronto and decide against the commute.
We're building one inside Durham instead: an independent school for Kindergarten through Grade 6, opening with its founding cohort.
Politics stays out of it
One flag, and it's the Canadian one. No land acknowledgements. Adult politics stays outside the classroom, and what we teach on that is set out in full where you can read it.
In debate, students argue both sides of the question. That's how a person learns to think rather than what to conclude.
Questions about Ajax
How many places will there be?
Small. The exact number is set with the founding families, and places go in the order people joined the list.
Are teachers certified?
Ontario doesn't require OCT certification for private elementary teaching, so ask any school you're considering who teaches your child and what their background is. We'll tell you exactly who we hire before you commit.
How does this compare to sending our child to Toronto?
Shorter drive, lower fee, smaller school, and a curriculum you can read before it's taught. What you'd give up is a hundred years of history and a purpose-built campus.
Do you take children part time?
Part-time places are likely. Tell us on the form which suits you, because those answers are shaping what the school offers.
Join the founding families list
The Academy opens when the founding cohort is full. Families on the list get first places, help set the first year's calendar, and keep the founding rate for as long as their child is enrolled.
